Workin visit no Norway: Experience in Modern Bridge Construction

A specialist from Engineering Services visited the city of Bergen (Kingdom of Norway) on a working trip dedicated to studying modern bridge construction technologies and European experience in infrastructure projects.

During the visit, bridges located in challenging natural conditions—over sea bays and fjords—were inspected. One example was the Askøy Bridge, a suspension bridge with a large span, featuring tall concrete pylons and well-thought-out engineering solutions.

Particular attention was given to construction technologies. Specifically, the specialist studied the balanced cantilever method—a technique in which the structure is built gradually from both sides of a support while maintaining balance. This approach is used for long-span bridges and ensures precision and safety even in complex environments.

The specialist was also introduced to modern formwork systems by PERI, which help accelerate construction, improve structural accuracy, and ensure safety at height. These solutions are especially relevant for projects over water and in variable climates.

Special interest was shown in the organization of work directly from the water, including the use of pontoons, temporary platforms, and specialized concreting technologies under wind loads and high humidity.

Norwegian practice demonstrates that construction in difficult natural conditions requires not only advanced technologies but also precise engineering at every stage. As a result of the visit, the Engineering Services specialist gained practical knowledge that can be applied to infrastructure projects in Kazakhstan.
